The India Capability Stack

Where should India build, buy, partner and secure?

Every technology sector — AI, drones, electric mobility, semiconductors — can be decomposed into the same six layers, from materials and energy at the base to applications at the top. The strategic error is to treat self-reliance as one decision. It is six.

The perspective behind the work

Built across industry, policy and institutions.

Over twenty-four years, Kalyan has worked on both sides of the table that matters most in technology: building capability inside industry, and shaping the policy frameworks that decide how that capability is used. At Nasscom he led India's AI strategy and the industry's G20 engagements; before that, he held leadership roles at General Electric, ABB and Maersk Training.

Working through a consequential technology decision?

If the question sits somewhere between technology, infrastructure, markets, policy and execution, I would be interested in understanding it.
